Monkeys, Lizards, Bats...We've Got It All!

Dying to know what we've been doing in Costa Rica? Here's what we've been up to since we left Mexico City:

  • We started our journey with a couple days of rest in San Jose, the capital. Now we're here in Puerto Viejo, about as south east as you can get in the country. We'll probably dip over to Panama since we're so close!
  • Birthday for me whoohoo! Turned 22 while in another country, what a highlight!
  • Bats are our next door neighbors...literally. There's a family of bats living in the room next to ours.
  • The cold showers have turned into a huge plus since the weather and humidity make us sweat buckets. Thank you Jesus for running water!
  • We have cats! One of them is pregnant so we're crossing our fingers that she has kittens before we leave.
  • Yard work and base improvement up the wazoo! Raking, sweeping roofs, getting attacked by ants, building a new bridge across the river, building a chicken coop, the list goes on!
  • Bible distribution. Here with YWAM Costa Rica the goal is to get a bible in every single house in the country. So far we've distributed over 300 bibles in Guápiles and this weekend were distributing again.
  • The bug infestation is real. Constant fight against spiders, ants, termites, wasps, whatever you can imagine....we have it!
  • Wi-Fi is limited to when we walk to pizza. Oh the joys of living in the middle of a jungle.
  • The monkeys have woken us up for three days straight. Howler monkeys....which sounds more like deep groaning and men yelling. Certainly an interesting sound to wake to!
  • We've been blessed getting to know the DTS group from ywam LA. Great group of people, we will be sad to see them go.
That's it folks, hope you enjoyed catching up with our first full week here. More to come, so stay tuned.
